Rapper Young Thug has internet users debating after an April 28 Instagram video captured him in his studio sharing his thoughts about how broke men shouldn’t produce children.
“God needs to set some rules,” the rapper begins. “We need new rules. We need a new oath. If you a broke ass n***a, you should not be able to nut because you’re bringing poor kids into this world, f**k n***a. You making n***as rob, and kill, and steal because you’re running around with no type of career, no nothing, having kids. Now, you’re kids growing up wanting s**t. You’re kids growing up looking at Thug and his gang.”
Thoughts on the rapper’s comment varied over social media, specifically Twitter. One user agreed with him, tweeting, “Broke lazy men should not have kids. Young thug is right.”
Another user agreed and indirectly stated that the rapper’s comment is common sense by tweeting, “Y’all need young Thug to tell y’all this???”
On the contrary, some users not only disagree with the “Punk” artist but also think it isn’t his place to speak on the matter.
“@youngthug Stay in your own world and mind your business frfr cause you ain’t taking care of they [sic] kids.” one tweet read.
“Omm, I’m headed to a radio station right now…this n***a young thug said Broke people to [sic] poor to have kids and should not have them. Procreation is only for the rich. Bet,” another user tweeted.
While he’s currently in a better position than the broke men he was speaking about in the video, in an interview with GQ, Young Thug revealed that he grew up in Section 8 housing in a poor part of Atlanta. Before the Thugger hit fame, he was a father at 17 with rotten and discolored teeth in his mouth. Therefore, it’s conclusive the rapper was speaking from experience.
In addition to the broke dad comment, the Thugger addressed women pursuing wealthy people when they’re broke.
“B***h got to realize that when you ain’t got nothing or worst from nothing, don’t have a future. Your job don’t got nothing for what you went to school for. You’ve got to adjust to whatever a nigga do for you,” he said. “You can’t want top-tier situations, and you’re the bottom of the barrel.”
“How the f**k you thought that work [sic]?” The rapper continued. “How you think that work? B***hes be dead-ass broke wanting a Birkin. Where the hell you going to put the Birkin at in a goddamn Uber? Get you a house, then get you a car that you can park at your house. Y’all trying to go to step 10 from zero. Hold down, relax.”
