An old letter to Tupac has resurfaced, and, naturally, Black Twitter reacted to it.
Willow’s alleged letter was hand-written and uploaded to her Instagram page in 2012, but it began making rounds on the internet via TikTok recently. In a post uploaded to the platform, media personality Kevin Samuels discussed the letter as he dissected actress Jada Pinkett-Smith’s relationship with Oscar Award-winning actor Will Smith.
“Dear Tupac, I know you are alive some place. I think that my mommy really misses you,” the note said. “Can you please come back? Can you come back so [mommy] and me can be happy[?]! I wish you were here…I really do. Love, Willow.”
At the time, the now-21 year old was 11. Being that she wasn’t born while the legendary L.A. rapper was still alive, Kevin questioned what Jada said about him around her children and husband at home.
“You could be one of the biggest stars in Hollywood [with a] squeaky clean image; women love you around the world, and this is what’s going on in your house,” he said about Will. Then, he continued giving his opinion about Jada’s love for Tupac. “Your wife is in love with a dead man. Tupac got killed in what, ’95 [or] ’96? Willow never met Tupac. Why is this little girl writing a letter to Tupac? Why is Will Smith’s daughter writing a letter to Tupac? What is being said in that house to get this little girl–not writing Santa Claus, not writing the easter bunny–writing [to] Tupac?”

The video clip received over 260,00 views and over 9,000 comments and made its way to Twitter, where users also chimed in on Willow’s alleged letter.
“I feel bad for Will Smith, but he did this shit to himself. He should have been left Jada for the way she publicly grieves Tupac, ALONE. Got willow writing letters to Tupac, crying every night for 30 days straight over a “friend”???? Got him competing with a dead man. No sir,” user @JayWadefrfr.
“Nah, willow smith writing a letter to Tupac is still one of the funniest things I have heard in my life,” wrote user @Unkle_K.
“Not Willow writing letters to Tupac to come back and make her mother happy. Is there a shrine to PAC in the Smith’s home? Like I don’t get it. She never even met the man,” said user @EddieMadaki.
“All I know is that letter Willow Smith wrote to Tupac better be fake,” user @JColeToo wrote.
“Willow smith wrote a letter to Tupac asking him to come back so [she] and her mom can be happy again. William Smith, if you have any ounce of self-respect at this point, you need to leave,” user @Amaron said.
Willow’s alleged letter went viral following her father’s controversial 2022 Oscars slap incident where he reportedly defended her mom against Emmy Award-winning comedian Chris Rock. Will smacked Chris in the face after he called the King Richard star’s wife, G.I. Jane, due to her bald head, which she shaved because of her diagnosis with alopecia.
Despite being married to Will for over 25 years, Jada has been quite open about her love for Tupac. She and the slain rapper, who died in 1996, were friends since high school–they both attended
the Baltimore School for the Arts–and were very close. They also both appeared together on a season six episode of NBC’s hit ’80s and ’90s show, A Different World. Her now-husband admitted to being jealous of her and Tupac’s friendship, which he mentioned in his 2021 memoir titled Will.
“In the beginning of our relationship, my mind was tortured by their connection. He was PAC! and I was me. I hated that I wasn’t what he was in the world, and I suffered a raging jealousy. I wanted Jada to look at me like that,” he wrote.
Willow has not confirmed whether or not she actually penned a letter to the deceased “California Love” artist.
