Two film legends are teaming up for an iconic box office hit for the first time. Deadline reported that I Am Legend is set for a sequel starring Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan.
Not only that but Smith and Jordan are slated to co-produce the film with the co-writer of the original hit movie script, Akiva Goldsman, also returning to write for the sequel. No director has been named yet, though Francis Lawrence directed the first film.
I Am Legend was the latest adaptation of Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel and follows Robert Neville (Smith), one of the very few survivors of a massive, deadly pandemic that killed most people and turned many others into vampire-like mutant creatures.
According to People, the first I Am Legend movie garnered over $585 million worldwide.

Although there is excitement about announcing an I Am Legend sequel, fans are struggling to guess where the story might go. Smith’s Neville dies in the first film. Some thoughts have been shared on Twitter:
I would like to remind everyone that Will Smith died in the theatrical ending to I Am Legend, because they thought him blowing himself up was a better ending than the one where he lived, and therefore a sequel doesn’t make sense to anyone who hasn’t seen the director’s cut. https://t.co/K2xHixqWf1

Predictable plot: Mike B finds himself in the same situation that Will Smith was in Then Will emerges out of nowhere as a mentor/expert to help save the day…
