Veteran actor, comedian and producer Will Ferrell recently shut down a heckler while award-winning actress Octavia Spencer received a Hollywood star.
Octavia was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, on Dec. 8, for her massive accomplishments, MSN reported. As she prepared her speech, she shared that she was “trying to keep it together because I know I haven’t taken all of my pictures yet, and I want my makeup to be pretty.”
Suddenly, an unnamed heckler from the crowd interrupted her during the introduction to her speech. The disgruntled attendee reportedly taunted the actress, her colleagues, and friends, saying the event was “celebrating rich people,” among other things. That’s when Will stepped in and shut down the heckler as he stepped to the podium to honor Octavia.
“Not on Octavia’s day!”
“Keep it moving. Keep it moving. The wax museum’s down there. That thing is wide open,” Ferrell said to the heckler.
He continued, using his signature humor to diffuse the situation.
“He’s got powerful lungs. He’s using his diaphragm,” he joked as the man made his way down the street.
“Louder, please. They can’t hear you in Alhambra,” he added, referencing a famous palace in Granada, Spain, as the crowd burst into laughter.
Will concluded that the Alabama native was “literally the best, and no one is more deserving of this star.”
He later added, “Is that guy up next?”
“Is he supposed to speak? Sweatpants weirdo, is he up here? Should I just go tackle him?”
When Octavia finally got to her speech, she recalled driving to L.A. from her hometown in Montgomery with an old vehicle, $3,000, a small T.V., and big dreams 26 years ago.
“It took me a minute to absorb the profundity of this moment. The culmination of my dreams realized, hard work rewarded after a fair but healthy amount of failure and rejection,” she said after accepting a certificate from L.A., marking her star ceremony.
Will and Octavia appear in the 2022 Christmas-themed musical comedy film, Spirited.
