Whoopi Goldberg had a tense moment with The View co-host Meghan McCain after Goldberg interrupted a rant to send the show to commercial break.
The moment occurred on Monday after the “Hot Topics” segment of the show. During the segment, the panelists discussed comments from Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who compared the treatment of anti-maskers to the way Jewish people were oppressed during the Holocaust.
After the panelists went in on Greene, McCain questioned why they didn’t have the same energy when she brought up anti-Semitism last week. She also argued the left didn’t properly address problematic behavior from Democrats.
“I would love if the energy that is being put on one crazy woman in Congress — and by the way, if she is the face of the Republicans, then the Squad is the face of the Democrats — I would love Democrats to put that same type of energy onto what’s happening on the left because quite frankly, this is how people get red-pilled,” said McCain.
Goldberg agreed with her assessment about anti-Semitism and tried to send the show to commercial, but McCain kept talking.
“We’re going to break, and when we come back, you can continue talking, but now we’re going to break, so we’ll be right back,” Goldberg said.
“Why are you cutting me off?” McCain shouted.
“I’m cutting you off because we have to go, Meghan! Why do you think I’m cutting you off?” Whoopi yelled back.
The moment sparked chatter on social media.
After the commercial break, Goldberg graciously let McCain finish her remark. Unfortunately, another argument almost occurred after Goldberg argued Omar was held accountable for her comments. McCain also pissed Joy Behar off after she claimed the media didn’t properly address anti-Semitism.
“I mean, I’ve been talking about anti-Semitism on this show for 25 freaking years,” Behar told McCain. “Don’t tell me what I’m supposed to be saying, Meghan, okay? You do your thing. We do ours.”
“I’m not telling you what you’re supposed to say. I’m well aware we do separate things on this show, Joy, okay?” McCain responded. “And I know you’ve been here 25 years, and I’ve been here four.”
Behar’s next response shut it down.
“That’s right. That’s right. You should have some respect for that once in a blue moon,” said Behar.
Get her, Joy.
