The View made its return following a short break this past Monday, but notably missing was Whoopi Goldberg, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, according to Deadline. The Sister Act actress was also absent on a couple of the show’s episodes last month after being reportedly exposed to the virus.

Joy Behar recently shared that Goldberg’s return to The View is anticipated for next week, reportedly sharing

about her COVID-19 related symptoms, “Since she is vaxxed and boosted, her symptoms have been very, very mild.”

Behar, along with hosts Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin, remotely recorded their first episode of the year in what Deadline refers to as a “temporary return to the Covid shutdown format.” Since September, the talk show shot its live episodes in an ABC studio.

“Happy New Year from all of our living rooms. As you can see, we’re back in boxes and doing the show remotely, hopefully for just a week. I’m praying that it’s just a week, but you never know because this omicron thing is all over the place,” Behar told fans on Monday’s episode.

She also revealed that Goldberg’s positive COVID-19 test result occurred during the break, Deadline reported. Goldberg joins several celebrities who recently contracted coronavirus, including sports analyst Stephen A. Smith and rapper LL Cool J. 

As Sister 2 Sister previously reported, the 66-year-old actress is set to return for Sister Act 3. However, there’s no word on whether filming for the movie has begun or if Goldberg’s COVID-19 illness will have any impact on production. 

“They kept saying no one wanted to see it, and then quite recently, it turns out that that may not be true,” she reportedly told James Corden last year about Sister Act 3, which Tyler Perry will produce.

“People might want to see it, so we’re working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back.”
