In a recent interview, Chris Brown revealed he could have been signed to Bad Boy Records but was turned down by Diddy.
The R&B star joined Drink Champs to talk with DJ EFN and N.O.R.E. about his latest project, the music industry, and a run-in he had with Diddy regarding being signed to his label.
He revealed that Diddy turned him down to be signed to Bad Boy Records early in his music career.
“The funniest part- a lot of people don’t really know this- but Diddy turned me down, he said. “Imma keep it 100. So I was like 12 at this time. This was before I linked to Def Jam. It was me and one of my production manager’s son named TJ; he’s my brother to this day. Me and him were like a group,” Brown explained.
“Man, we didn’t have no name,” Breezy said when N.O.R.E asked for the group’s name. Diddy wasn’t having any parts in that.

Brown also spoke about how Bow Wow was supposed to be on his 2005 hit song “Run It!”
“Shad is my brother, man, but Shad be cappin’ sometimes, but I love Shad,” he said. “So Bow, right? He definitely was the first person who said, ‘Look, you wanna get on tour? I’m gonna show you how to do that.’ It was like he was not a hater…Bow was like the first one. When we did ‘Run It!’ in Hit Factory in Miami, I was like 14, and he was like, ‘Well, who do you wanna feature?’ and I was like, ‘Juelz Santana.'”
Brown has been keeping busy. He released his 10th studio album BREEZY on Friday with 24 songs featuring Anderson .Paak, Bryson Tiller, Ella Mai, H.E.R., Lil Wayne, Blxst, Jack Harlow, Fivio Foreign, Tory Lanez and EST Gee.
Brown will also join rapper Lil Baby to support his new album on the One of Them Ones Tour. The 27-city tour will start on July 15 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
