Wendy Williams was spotted at Newark Airport with her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., as the two were catching a flight to Miami last Thursday night.
The beloved talk show host wore a yellow North Face jacket, black pants with oversized black boots, and a Yankee fitted cap. While she didn’t use the wheelchair she had used for several months, an eyewitness said Williams’ son was assisting her as they were catching the flight, TMZ reported.
After landing in Florida, the 57-year-old was overheard telling a fan that she was working to regain her position as host on the Wendy Williams Show.
Her statements came days after a telephone interview with Good Morning America last week.
“This is what I would to say to my ‘Wendy’ watchers: Keep watching because I’m going to be back on the ‘Wendy’ show bigger and brighter than ever,” Williams, 57, declared.
As Sis2Sis previously reported, the daytime television show was canceled after 14 seasons last month. The production company, Debmar-Mercury, confirmed that the show was replaced by Sherri, hosted by Sherri Shepherd.
A source close to the production company told Page Six that it is “100 percent committed” to the comedian’s new show in the fall, locking in slots with Fox while planning to air it on other network groups.
While the company would support Williams if she returned to television, the insider explained that it would be improbable for her to make a comeback within three months since the time slots have already been filled.
During the interview, Williams said her time away from television was due to “private” matters that had nothing to do with her health.
“There are private things that I have to deal with, and then I’ll be ready to come back and be free and ready to do my thing,” she shared.
Williams has been away from the show since July 2021.
