Emmy Award-winning media mogul and talk show host Wendy Williams said she only had two dollars to her name amid her financial issues.
Williams revealed the shocking bit during an interview with Grammy-nominated rapper Fat Joe on May 6.
“Unfortunately, I only have $2 and nothing else. Everything is frozen,” she told Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena. “Some people are involved with this, and so, that’s what I’m doing right now.”
She also said that she was in Miami when she found out.
“I don’t mind talking about this. I was in Miami, and then I found out.”
Williams has reportedly been in a legal battle with her bank, Wells Fargo, following their claim that she was an “incapacitated person” who needed temporary guardianship. The bank not only froze her assets but also requested a hearing to determine if she required professional intervention.
Cartagena initially asked the 57-year-old to address rumors surrounding her health.
“There was a big rumor [about] Alzheimer’s, that [you forget] stuff. Could you clear that up for the people because you have huge fans that want to know? Is it people you trusted that spread the rumor so they could take your money? Is this a money grab?” he asked.
“No,” the talk show mogul replied. “People say things like that because…I have lymphedema–I told you about my feet…I don’t want to talk too much about it.”
According to Cancer.org, Lymphedema is the build-up of fluid in fatty tissues when the lymph system is damaged or blocked. The condition leads to swelling and discomfort.
Williams was also diagnosed with Grave’s disease–an autoimmune disorder that would lead to the overproduction of thyroid hormones–back in 2018.
However, despite her financial and health situations, she confirmed that she would be returning to her hit show.
“I’m coming back to The Wendy Williams Show. Absolutely,” she said.
The Jersey native added that she wouldn’t be watching Emmy Award-winning comedian Sherri Shepherd’s new show Sherri, which was set to take over her original time slot in September.
“I won’t be watching her because I know what she’ll be doing, and that’s really not my thing…you know what I’m saying? Anyway, I love being on my own show. And I love that people love to watch it, you know, all the time.”
The talk show mogul reportedly has a net worth of $40 million as of February 2022.
