Wendy Williams’ family has come forward to put to rest the rumors of her deteriorating health.
Tommy Williams, Jr., the brother of the daytime talk show diva, shut down claims that Wendy has dementia. According to The Sun, reports of the 57-year-old host’s health declining spread like wildfire on the internet.
Tommy told the publication, “We haven’t had any alerts like that and I haven’t seen anything like that or have had conversations with her that would lead me to believe that.”
“We routinely go up and check on Wendy even though we’re all down here in Florida,” the 54-year-old man added. “I try to make it up there, and my dad speaks with Wendy frequently. So no, we don’t have any concerns concerning her mental state. It’s all physical.”
He maintained that Wendy is well enough to possibly travel for the upcoming holiday weekend.
“I am trying to find out if she’s coming down for Thanksgiving. I mean- she’s normal like that.”
The Rickey Smiley Morning Show reported that Wendy was in dire straits healthwise over the weekend. The video posted on Nov. 22 detailed that she was confined to a wheelchair and wouldn’t likely return to her successful show. Theshowalsol sparked the rumor that Wendy had dementia.
“It’s not looking really good… Word on the street is Wendy is confined to a wheelchair,” Smiley’s resident gossip king disclosed. “Rumor has it Wendy has lost all blood circulation in her legs and in her feet.”
He added, “We gotta pray for Wendy. We know that she’s been battling with addiction, alcoholism, all that good stuff, and it’s also been reported that Wendy has been suffering from the early stages of dementia.”
The media personality has yet to come back to her self-titled talk show for a myriad of reasons that remain a mystery.
On Nov. 8, she did post a health update and a “thank you” to her fans via Instagram.
“HOW YOU DOIN’? I MISS YOU ALL! As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic. I’m making progress, but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected. I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready,” she wrote.
“I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there. I also want to thank Debmar-Mercury and our stations for being so understanding and supportive while I work my way back. Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and comments and feel all the love! You are everything to me. I love spending my mornings with you all, and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work, but right now, Wendy has to focus on Wendy. I love you for watching.”
