Sister Act 3 was recently announced as the latest addition to the ‘90s film series, which starred Whoopi Goldberg, Kathy Najimy and Maggie Smith. According to Deadline, the upcoming Disney project will bring back Goldberg to play central character Deloris Van Cartier, with High School Musical: The Musical’s Tim Federle directing. Tyler Perry will reportedly serve as the reboot’s producer, along with Goldberg.
Speaking about his latest venture with the Hollywood Reporter, Perry opened up about collaborating and helping to bring Sister Act 3 to life, saying, “The script is being written, and I am the producer on it, not directing. We brought on an incredible director, and Whoopi’s really excited,” The 52-year-old producer-director continued, ”I think that this is just what the country needs. We need that feel-good moment in the movies where you go, “Oh my God, I left there singing.” That’s my hope.”
Nearly 30 years after Sister Act debuted in theaters and grossed over $200 million worldwide, Goldberg sat down with late-night talk show host James Corden, revealing her excitement to work on a third installment.
