Singer India Arie called out Joe Rogan for using the N-word in a resurfaced clip. The roast comes as several musicians pulled music from Spotify to boycott the platform and Joe Rogan. Neil Young was the first to pull his music due to Rogan’s COVID-19 misinformation on The Joe Rogan Experience.
Arie also pulled her music from Spotify but did so for reasons other than the coronavirus misinformation. She said she also has an issue with Rogan’s racist a** rhetoric. Rogan repeatedly dropped the N-word with ease and called Black neighborhoods the “Planet of the Apes.”
The musician called Rogan out and Spotify as well for supporting a racist.
“We walked into the Planet of the Apes,” he said of going to a Black neighborhood.
Journalist Omid Scobie shared India Arie’s video on Twitter. The clip includes Arie commenting on Rogan’s use of the N-word on multiple occasions during his podcast and calling out Spotify for supporting him.
After removing her music from @Spotify, @indiaarie has doubled down on her decision alongside clips of @joerogan using racist language: "They take this money from music streaming and pay this guy $100million and pay us .003% of a penny [per stream]? Just take me off!"

“Joe Rogan shouldn’t even be uttering the N-word,” said Arie. “Don’t even say it, under any context. That’s where I stand. I have always stood there… We have this person who is offensive to a lot of people and is paid $100 million. The backbone of Spotify is the music. You pay the musicians .003-.005 percent of a penny and take this money generated over here and use it to invest in this guy? Do you what you want, but take me off. Or pay me too. I mean us. Pay artists like me too. Pay podcasters of color too.”
She added the move lets folks know what kind of company Spotify is.

Musicians Graham Nash and Joni Mitchell have also removed their music from the platform in protest of Rogan and his controversial content.
