Random fans hilariously mistook veteran actor Morris Chestnut for radio host and media personality Charlamagne Tha God, veteran actor Taye Diggs and R&B crooner Tyrese Gibson; he shared on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Chestnut shared
his awkward encounter during a recent episode, saying they mistake him for other famous figures despite being a huge celebrity.“People say, ‘yeah, I loved you in The Fast And Furious…so Tyrese,” he told host, award-winning singer Jennifer Hudson.
“I can kinda see it,” Hudson responded while intently eyeing a photo of Chestnut and Gibson.
He continued, adding that he even got mistaken for Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard McKelvey.
“Very recently, for the first couple of times, they thought I was Charlamagne. Charlamagne Tha God,” he said.
“Wait a minute,” Hudson joked before squinting at a side-by-side photo of the two men.
Chestnut added that he was mistaken for Diggs during a quick Starbucks run once.
“I was in Starbucks one day, and they said, ‘It’s so nice to meet you, Mr. Taye Diggs,’” he said to the studio audience, which then erupted into laughter.
He even joked that to some people, he just looks like “every bald-headed Black dude with a goatee.”
Veering off topic, Chestnut shared that his mother encouraged him to campaign for his Hollywood Star, which he was honored with back in March.
“This day is not possible without her,” he said during the star unveiling. Once he accomplished his goal, he repaid her by scheduling the special ceremony on her birthday.
Known for being popular with the ladies, he recently trended on Twitter for his looks.
“Real talk…Morris Chestnut has been fine my entire life, and I love that for me! Also, the fact that he has a Blackity Black wife makes him even FINER! Yes, GAWD!” @KekaAraujo313 tweeted on Dec. 28.
