Award-winning actress Angelina Jolie’s daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt recently celebrated her Spelman College admission at a send-off party.

Zahara celebrated her admission and enrollment at the famed all-girl HBCU with Angelina at a send-off party at the beginning of August.

Video footage of the event showed the 17-year-old embracing her mom after the actress joined a group of partygoers doing the electric slide. The group was getting down on the dancefloor to the 1986 hit “Candy” by legendary R&B group Cameo.

In the video, Zahara was all smiles in a casual outfit consisting of a white t-shirt, blue denim jeans, white shoes and an afro puff ponytail.

Angelina previously announced the beautiful Ethiopian-born teen’s admission to Spelman via Instagram on Aug. 1.

“Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students [who are] starting this year,” the actress wrote. “A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl. #spelman #spelmancollege #spelmansisters #HBCU.”

In the photo, which seemed to have been taken at Zahara’s party, her daughter was surrounded by a cluster of fellow Black girls wearing Spelman shirts.

The iconic HBCU has been making headlines as of late, as legendary NBA hall of Famer and sports broadcaster donated $1 million to the school. The former Philadelphia 76ers and Houston Rockets player reportedly donated on July 7 after seeing the college’s positive impact on a student–his business partner John Hudson’s daughter, Jordyn Hudson.

In June, Spelman student Miriam Olajide flexed her skills on an episode of the classic American game, Wheel of Fortune, winning $22,000 in cash and prizes.

Spelman is a private Atlanta-based all-girl HBCU that was founded as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary in 1881. The institution eventually became Spelman in 1924 and later went on to become the alma mater of many notable public figures, including politician Stacey Abrams and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Alice Walker. The historic school also houses multiple Black sororities, including Alpha Kappa Alpha.
