In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, Venus Williams opened up about her personal life, career, and shared that she is not desperate to start a family anytime soon.
As her 41st birthday is coming up soon, Williams talked about just how much she values and loves the freedom she’s allowed with her lifestyle and said she doesn’t feel pressured by society to start a family as most women her age do or have already done.
“I have a lot of friends who don’t believe me when I say that I like my life, and I don’t want to change it for any reason. I’m not desperate and they don’t believe me,” she said, referring to her single status.
“They say things like, ‘You’re going to miss your window.’ I’m like, ‘Please, relax. You might feel this way, but I don’t. I promise you I don’t,” she adds.

During a press conference at the French Open, Williams spoke about her way of dealing with the media and press. She said, “For me personally, how I cope, how I deal with it, was that I know every single person asking me a question can’t play as well as I can and never will. So, no matter what you say or what you write, you’ll never light a candle to me.”
“That’s how I deal with it,” she added. “But each person deals with it differently.”
Adding to the same concept, Williams spoke to the outlet about Naomi Osaka, who recently had a tough time with the media, and opened up about her mental health.
Williams said, “I admire everyone who stands up for what is right, which isn’t easy. It takes strength, courage, and vulnerability. I love to see this next generation of players be willing and open to do that regardless of the cost to them.”
