Producer L.A. Reid got a pretty sweet surprise at his 66th birthday party from longtime friend and mentee Usher.
The “U Got It Bad” singer bought the producer a brand new convertible Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet.
The moment was captured on video and showed L.A. Reid clearly taken aback by the massive display of gratitude from Usher. Walking up to the black convertible, the producer couldn’t help but respond by smiling and yelling, “What!?”
Alongside him was a beaming Usher and rapper T.I.
Videos and photos from R&B singer Jacquees’ Instagram show that he and rapper Jeezy attended the birthday party, labeled the “Bel Air Backyard BBQ.”
In one video, the producer exclaimed, “I don’t know how to accept this.”
Usher walked up to him and handed L.A. Reid the keys to his new ride.

T.I. made a heartwarming post dedicated to the 66-year-old music industry guru with a photo of the two attached.
“This man took a chance on me when all I had was a dream and a pocket full dop,” the post read. “@la_reid Eternally Thankful. Proud to be an alumni of Laface University. You and @babyface really brought the southern music scene to my city…We ain’t looked back since…Happy Birthday, OG #ImSerious.”

According to TMZ, L.A. Reid did the same for Usher in 1997 when Usher released “You Make Me Wanna,” the “My Way” album’s lead single, under Reid’s record label L.A. Face Records. Reid signed Usher when he was just 14 years old.
Usher isn’t the only artist the A&R representative has worked with. Because of Reid, the world has music from top artists like Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, Kanye West, and more. He even had a part in the return of Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey to the music industry.
