UPDATE: Whoopi Goldberg Feels ‘Humiliated’ After Suspension At ‘The View,’ Threatens To Quit, Sources Say

Whoopi Goldberg is reportedly “livid” following her suspension from The View after making so-called controversial comments about the Holocaust on Monday’s episode. She has informed

co-workers that she plans on quitting the show, according to a source familiar with the situation.

The 66-year-old is not taking the suspension well and felt “humiliated” after ABC execs penalized Goldberg and suggested she issue an apology for her remarks, an insider told the New York Post.

“She feels ABC executives mishandled this. She followed their playbook. She went on ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ and then apologized again on ‘The View’ the next day,” a source said.

Though Goldberg has mentioned quitting the daytime program, insiders say she’s likely just letting off some steam.

“Her ego has been hurt and she’s telling people she’s going to quit,” the source said. “Suspension from ‘The View’ is like getting suspended from Bravo. The bar is very low.”

As Sis2Sis previously reported, Goldberg faced criticism after claiming the Holocaust was “not about race” but rather “man’s inhumanity to man,” on Monday’s episode of

The View. She then appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Monday night and attempted to clarify her comments, but the comedian was suspended after Tuesday’s episode.

The conversation starts at 4:40

ABC president, Kim Godwin, denounced the Hollywood legend’s comments, calling them “wrong and hurtful.”

“While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments,” Godwin said. “The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”

Godwin explained to her staffers her decision to discipline the co-host, informing her staff that disciplinary actions are “never easy” and that she appreciated Goldberg’s apology.

On Wednesday’s episode of The View, co-host Joy Behr briefly mentioned Goldberg during the opening of the show by saying, “You all saw the news. Whoopi will be back in two weeks.”

However, People Magazine reported that she did not discuss the comments or Goldberg’s suspension.
