UPDATE: Suspect Arrested In Fatal Shooting Of LaKevia Jackson, Rapper Young Thug’s Son’s Mother

A suspect has been arrested following the fatal shooting of Grammy Award-winning Atlanta rapper Young Thug’s child’s mother, LaKevia Jackson.

According to Fox 5, the Atlanta Police Department confirmed that the fugitive team and U.S. Marshals took the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Joshua Fleetwood, into custody on Mar. 31. They arrested Fleetwood for felony murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. As such, he was booked into Fulton County Jail.

“We are happy that Mr. Fleetwood is in our custody,” Homicide Commander Ralph Woolfolk reportedly said.

The suspected gunman was accused of shooting and killing 31-year-old Jackson at Metro Fun Center on Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta after an alleged argument that moved outside of the establishment. She was reportedly there for her best friend’s party on Mar. 17.

“This was simply an escalated dispute,” her mother, Sherina Jackson, told Fox 5 about the argument that spilled over into Metro Fun Center’s parking lot.

The young woman shared a son, 14-year-old Kyvion Jackson, with Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams.

“This is truly an atrocity. A young lady has lost her life over a bowling ball,” Woolfolk said.

Atlanta Police previously obtained warrants for Fleetwood’s arrest three days after Jackson was gunned down. Court records revealed that he was arrested over 12 times before the tragic occurrence, and he has been a convicted felon with 16 cycles through the criminal justice system. Fleetwood had convictions pertaining to fraud, criminal trespassing, avoiding police, and narcotic-related crimes.

CBS 46 news anchor Tori Cooper reported that the victim’s son was devastated about the news of his mother’s death.

“[Sherina Jackson] just told me that rapper Young Thug is the father of her [daughter’s] 14-year-old grandson, Kyvion Jackson. They met before he was famous while they were both living in the same apt. complex. [Her] grandson, ‘Isn’t doing well.'”

A representative for Thug reportedly said he wouldn’t be releasing a public statement.
