Updates to the March 26, officer-involved shooting in Virginia Beach report revealed that one of the victims killed by police was Pharrell Williams’ cousin, Donovon Lynch.
The original report by Sister 2 Sister identified Lynch and Bad Girls Club star, Deshayla Harris as victims.
Pharrell and the family of the Lynch are now demanding justice for the incident, according to BET.
The officer responsible for firing the fatal shot and his colleague which is also his witness both confirm that “both … report that Mr. Lynch was brandishing a handgun at the time of the shooting.”
The Grammy-winning artist expressed his grief for the loss of his cousin on social media
Williams shared a tweet with his followers in which he mentioned, “It is critical my family and the other victims’ families get the transparency they deserve.”
In an Instagram post also shared by Williams, he said, “Virginia Beach is the epitome of hope and tenacity and, as a community, we will get through this and come out even stronger.”
Homicide detectives reported that Lynch was “brandishing a handgun at the time of the shooting. However, they also mentioned that “specific actions which resulted in the shooting are part of the ongoing criminal investigation.”
Community members are outraged after Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate confirmed that a body camera that was on the officer at the time of the shooting did not capture any recording of the incident, according to New York Post.
The three suspects in custody for the first shooting are Ahmon Jahree Adams, Nyquez Tyyon Baker, and Devon Maurice Dorsey Jr.
