After battling in court for over a year, Dr. Dre has settled his divorce from ex-wife Nicole Young, Black Enterprise reported.
According to TMZ, the official divorce settlement will cost the legendary rapper more than $100 million. However, reports show Andre Young is worth an estimated $820 million. At the time, Young requested half of Dre’s fortune, but the former couple signed a prenup, and the assets were protected. She later contested the document, stating that she was forced to sign it when it was filed in 1996.
The divorce was finalized after the 56-year-old agreed to a property settlement with his ex-wife. In the settlement, he will pay Young $100 million, to which she is slated to receive $50 million now and another $50 million at the same time next year.
Dre will maintain several properties the former couple owned, including a Malibu home, two homes in Calabasas, and four properties in the L.A. area, including the $100 million Brentwood estate. The producer will fully own his master recordings, trademarks, and interests in several partnerships and trusts. In addition, he will retain all of their Apple stocks, which contain the profits from the sale of Beats by Dre.
As Sis2Sis previously reported, the rap icon celebrated his divorce from Young in a photo surrounded by ‘Divorce AF’ balloons in early December. The image was posted to Instagram by one of his business associates.
Music executive Breyon Prescott shared the photo, displaying the Compton native posing cheerfully in front of balloons that read “DIVORCED AF.” Prescott captioned the photo: “Hey Well My Brother @drdre Just told Me It’s Final!!! Congrats.”

In January of this year, the legendary rapper spent over a week in the intensive care unit at Cedar Sinai Medical Center after suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm.
During his recovery, Dre thanked his supporters, writing on Instagram: “Thanks to my family, friends, and fans for their interest and well wishes. I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!”
Dre was married to Young for 25 years, and they share a son and a daughter — Truice, 24, and Truly, 20.
