Boy, agonized singer Tyrese Gibson still not over the $20,000 child support his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, requested in court, and addressed it in his newly released song, “Love Transaction.”
The Fast & Furious actor dropped the track on Friday, Aug. 25, where he questioned if his relationship with Lee was love or a transaction, and Tyrese didn’t hold back.
“Dragging me in and out of court / trying to take all that I’ve been working for / can you justify what you said the baby needs / don’t I make sure that she has everything / $20,000 isn’t child support / we both know just who that money’s for,” Tyrese sang in the second verse.
The lyrics pertain to Tyrese and Lee’s rough divorce proceedings, where Lee requested the court demand her ex-husband pay $20,000 in monthly child support in 2021. The actor countered, calling the child support “unreasonable” and claiming she left him while filming a movie.
Lee claimed the singer locked her and their daughter, Soraya Gibson, 4, out of his $4 million house, but he argued he changed the locks in 2020.
Once, Tyrese was held in contempt of court, where the judge required him to pay $636,000 in child support and lawyer fees. The singer told Hollywood Unlocked he was appealing the $20,000 child support request.
Lee and Gibson tied the knot in 2017 and had Soraya a year later. In the song, he admitted to wanting the typical family dynamic, but things took a turn three years later when the former couple found themselves getting a divorce.
“Thought that love shouldn’t cost a thing, so why must I pay all these lawyer fees,” Tyrese sang in “Love Transaction.”
Amid insinuating Lee used Soraya to get money out of him, he claimed the 4-year-old wondered why they weren’t “under the same roof.”
Toward the end, Tyrese said Lee left him “emotionally bankrupt.”
“Don’t Think You Ever Loved Me” is another track Tyrese released on Feb. 4, 2023, questioning whether Lee genuinely loved him.
