Award-winning actor and film director Tyler Perry recently called Jill Scott and Janet Jackson out for delaying the third installment of Why Did I Get Married.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tyler revealed that he’s been waiting on the former co-stars to say “yes” so he can move forward with the film.
“If Janet and Jill Scott say yes, I’m waiting for them to say it,” he said at theGrio Awards on Oct. 22.
After ET tweeted about the interview, Jill took to her Twitter account to confirm that she received the memo. She even tagged Janet in the post.
“@tylerperry, @MichaelJaiWhite @LammanRucker @tashasmith4real @richjonesactor and Sharon Leal already said yes?? I just got a text message yesterday. Hey, @JanetJackson, did you get a text message?” she asked.
Tyler’s Why Did I Get Married films follow the lives of four couples who endure marital problems and wonder if marriage is worth the trouble. The film’s first installment was released in 2007, and its sequel, Why Did I Get Married Too
, came out in 2010. They’re reportedly his top-10 most popular movies, as they grossed over $115 million dollars combined. In it, Jill portrayed the character Sheila while Janet portrayed the character Patricia Agnew.Due to the movies’ successes, Tyler created a TV spin-off titled For Better Or Worse, which aired via the Oprah Winfrey Network and TBS from 2011 to 2017. The spin-off followed the lives of fictional couple Angela and Marcus, which actress Tasha Smith and actor Michael Jai White portrayed.
