Yung Miami, 1/2 of the Florida-based rap group City Girls, went viral on social media following Diddy’s acceptance speech at the BET Awards Sunday night.
The nearly four-hour award show honored the music mogul with the Lifetime Achievement Award, with Kanye West making a surprise appearance while introducing his “favorite artist” to the stage.
In his speech, the longtime entertainer credited “everybody that played a part” in his career, adding that he couldn’t mention everyone by name. However, he thanked the women in his life, including his late ex-wife and mother of three of his children, Kim Porter. Diddy also thanked his mother, Janice Combs, and Cassie for “holding [him] down in the dark times.”
The former couple was together for ten years before the singer later married Alex Fine in September 2019, sharing two children, Huffington Post reported.
Twitter users criticized Diddy for not mentioning Miami, who was captured on camera, supporting him with a sign that read “Go Papi” as the Harlem native walked on stage to accept his award.
Recently, Diddy appeared on the first episode of Miami’s new show on Revolt TV entitled, Caresha, Please, where the Bad Boy founder confirmed he and the 28-year-old are dating, per Sis2Sis.
“We date. We’re dating,” he said to Miami. “We go have dates. We’re friends. We go to exotic locations. We have great times.”
The conversation shifted when Miami unapologetically asked Diddy to define their budding romance, with him declaring himself as “single,” “dating,” and “just taking [his] time at life.”
Twitter users took to the social platform and expressed their thoughts on Diddy failing to acknowledge Miami as his girlfriend and the woman whom he’s dating.
One user said, “Diddy wild. Did a whole tribute to Kim Porter and shouted out Cassie while Yung Miami was in the audience with a “Go Papi sign” #BETAwards.”
After the tweets started reeling in, the rapper later retweeted a message from a user calling her out for holding the sign in support of Diddy.
JT, the other half of the rap duo, defended her groupmate by responding to the shady comment from the user, writing, “B***h don’t play crazy not a b***h that can be seen touched & identified trying to go viral… ok, alright.”
