Rapper Turk sat down with VladTV, and in the midst of his interview, he said some very interesting things. When asked about Cash Money executive Birdman kissing his artists on the lips, Turk claimed that men play “gay games” with each other as a way to show affection.
In possibly the most uncomfortably confounding two minutes and 43 seconds of most people’s life, Turk fielded a question by Vlad about the infamous tendency of Birdman to kiss his younger artists on the lips.
Turk explained that Birdman did not do it with older artists like “Back That Thang Up” rapper Juvenile. However, his lips were primed for pecking with younger artists such as Turk and Lil’ Wayne.
The rapper further outlined that “all males” have some “gay” game that they play with other men, and it seems to come from penitentiary culture.
“It’s just like somebody hitting someone on the ass when they playing basketball. That don’t [sic] mean they’re gay … I know for a fact that n**ga like p**sy. That wasn’t no [sic] gay act to us. Every male has some type of gay game — penitentiary game — that they play with their homies. N**gas not going to mention it, not going to say it, because of social media … but every n**ga like ‘damn n**ga you sexy today,'” the rapper said.
With the Tokyo Olympics just having ended, it is actually rather apropos that Turk would bring up a “gay game.”
In 1982, the first Gay Games took place as a way to integrate gay pride into athletics. The event still takes place and was inspired by Tommie Smith and John Carlos’ protest at the 1968 Olympics.
While Turk’s statements raised eyebrows, it is important that men understand that showing each other affection is not inherently a marker of homosexuality.
As for Cash Money, there have been no other photos or anecdotes to surface with Birdman engaging in his chosen form of male affection.
