Trinity Rodman Highest Paid Player In The National Women’s Soccer League, Nominated For A Ballon d’Or Féminin

According to ESPN, on August 31, soccer player Trinity Rodman signed a contract renewal, making her the highest-played soccer player in National Women’s Soccer League history. At only 20 years old, Trinity extended her contract with Washington Spirit for four years, offering her pay out of $1.1 million.

Trinity is calculated to earn $281,000 yearly with the inclusion, a step up from the $42,000 three-year contract last year, despite housing benefits during play. In addition to the step up in pay, the club offered Trinity the option to extend her contract out for another season if she wanted.

“We’re incredibly excited to have Trin as a part of the Spirit family for at least the next three seasons,” Washington Spirit head coach Kris Ward told ESPN. “She has a truly special career ahead of her and makes us a better club on all fronts.” Her high prospect allowed the league to use allocation money to set Trinity above the maximum salary allowance.

The US Women’s National Team coach weighed in on Trinity’s rising success. Vlatko Adonovski said,

“She was one of the most exciting players in the league this past season, and she proved that she can be impactful at the professional level in NWSL,”

It’s a consensus that Trinity is a player to watch out for as the youngest player at 18 to have been drafted into the NWSL and the daughter of NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman.

Trinity was recently nominated for this year’s Ballon d’Or Féminin, the most prestigious award in the women’s soccer game.

Washington Spirit currently sits at 11th in the division with one win, and ten draws and six losses.
