Trackstar Sha’Carri Richardson Secures Her Spot In Tokyo Olympics

Sha’Carri Richardson is a name to remember. On June 19, she participated in the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team 100m Trials in Eugene, Oregon and secured her spot for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

Richardson, 21, qualified in the semifinals of the 100-meter-dash with a whopping 10.64 seconds. She dominated the track and even had time to give a shout-out to her haters. 30 meters before the race finished, Richardson pointed at the clock and crossed the finish line shouting, “Stop f*cking playing with me!”

The next step was her fiery finals race which she finished in 10.87 seconds. On queue, she let out another war cry, “I’m a f**king Olympian!” The upcoming Olympic games will be her first.

The speedy, second and third place track starlets who ran against Richardson, Javianne Olive and Teahna Daniels, will also join Team USA for the Olympics.

After qualifying, the LSU tracklete ran to her grandmother, Betty Harp, for a touching embrace.

“My grandmother is my heart, my superwoman,” the Dallas native said to Runners World. “To have her here at the biggest meet of my life, it’s just amazing. That probably felt better than winning the races, just being able to hold her after becoming an Olympian.”

But y’all see me on this track and y’all see the poker face I put on. But nobody but [my family] and my coach know what I go through…and I’m highly grateful to them. Without them, there would be no me.”

On social media, supporters including comedian KevOnStage, Matthew A. Cherry and Teen Vogue executive editor Dani Kwateng praised Richardson. And I, as a fellow former tracklete, am also rooting for all my girls in the upcoming Olympics. Let’s get em Team USA!
