Tory Lanez’s team called out a reporter, who released a report detailing the rapper’s condition in jail. 

Published on Wednesday, July 12, reporter Meghann Cuniff for Legal Affairs And Trials broadcast a report about Lanez signing for a change of counsel on June 27. Attorney Ronda Renee Dixon requested to replace Matthew Barhoma as counsel for Lanez, as did Barhoma.

Cuniff wrote that Dixon told her she filed a motion to get Lanez out of jail because he suffered from isolation due to his celebrity status, meaning he was lonely. Dixon detailed Lanez’s physical appearance when she visited him in jail.

“His eyes were black. He was totally despondent,” Dixon said. “He told me he wanted to go to state prison. I said, ‘You want to go to state prison? Why?’ He said, ‘At least I’ll be able to go out in the yard and talk to people.’ That upset me. I don’t think he’s guilty.”

 Cuniff’s report read that Dixon wrote in her motion that the Sheriff deemed Lanez a “great threat” because of his celebrity status and decided “he must be confined in the same manner as those convicted of serial rape charges and murder.”

Lanez’s team took to his Instagram story to claim that report was false and that the reporter had a negative objective against Lanez.

“With all due respect…please disregard anything [Meghann] Cuniff reports on Tory Lanez,” the Instagram Story caption read. “Her objective, perspective/narrative has always been negative and extremely biased towards him. If there is an update on Tory, it will come from this page first if it doesn’t come from this page. It’s not real. With love – The Umbrella.”
