In the realm of reality TV and celebrity drama, Celebrity Big Brother star Todrick Hall finds himself entangled in a legal battle over unpaid rent.
A judgment of $102,000 was awarded to his ex-landlord, but Todrick is not going down without a fight. Let’s delve into the dramatic twists and turns of this story.
A couple of months after the judgment was made, Todrick claimed that he had not been properly served with the legal paperwork. His lawyer argued that as an international entertainer with a busy travel schedule, Todrick was seldom home in California and had international commitments that kept him away during the relevant time period.
“He was traveling, most of the time out of the country, during the relevant time period in June, July, and August,” his lawyer said. “He also frequently performs on cruise ships. As a result, he is seldom home in California.”
According to Todrick, he only became aware of the case when he received a “notice of levy.” He contested that his assistant, who allegedly received the paperwork, was not authorized to accept service and failed to pass it on to him.
In a fortunate turn of events for Todrick, the judge sided with him in February and vacated the default judgment. However, the dancer was given a deadline to file his official answer to the case. In his filing, Todrick vehemently denied all allegations of wrongdoing and claimed that the landlord had repudiated the contract, thus releasing him from his payment obligations.
Todrick’s lawyer further argued that the landlord’s conduct exposed them to liability, asserting that Todrick was entitled to set off any amounts owed by the landlord against potential damages. Additionally, Todrick raised the issue of the lease being “substantively unconscionable,” suggesting that it was an unfair agreement. He demanded the dismissal of the entire lawsuit.

This legal battle is not the only trouble Todrick has found himself in recently. Earlier this month, he was hit with a separate lawsuit accusing him of refusing to pay a $126,000 furniture bill. The company providing the furniture for his Sherman Oaks home alleged that Todrick breached their agreement, adding to his mounting legal woes.
As the drama unfolds, fans and critics alike are left wondering how Todrick’s legal struggles will impact his career and personal life.
