Today show weather anchor Al Roker is in the hospital recovering from a “medical whack-a-mole,” he announced on Instagram.
According to the anchor, he was sent to the hospital after having a blood clot in his leg that led to blood clots in his lungs.

“So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been,” Roker wrote. “Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg, which sent some clots into my lungs. After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery.”
He thanked everyone for their “well wishes and prayers” and hoped to see them soon, wishing his followers a “great weekend.”
People reported that Dylan Dreyer substituted for Roker. In September, meteorologist Bill Karins filled in for Roker after he tested positive for COVID.
Friday, Roker’s Today show co-hosts talked about his health scare and gave an update on his health while wishing him well.
“He’s in good spirits. We’ve all talked to him,” co-host Savannah Guthrie said, with Hoda Kotb adding he’s in “great spirits.”
“Not that you need us to tell you how incredible Al is,” Dreyer said. “The first time I called him he immediately says, ‘Hey, Dilly Dill, how are the boys?’”
The rest of the cast agreed that it was like Roker to think of others than himself, saying it was “Classic Al.”
The Voice host Carson Daily commented that they needed him back because “he inspires me every day because when I wake up, I see him on his treadmill in the basement, he’s walking here to work…I haven’t done any exercises.”
Get better, Al! We can’t wait to see you back on the Today show.
