Tina Turner Carried Gun Amid Threats From Ex-Husband Ike

In a shocking revelation, Tina Turner has shared the harrowing details of her life with her late ex-husband, Ike Turner, in her resurfaced memoir titled My Love Story.

The renowned late-singer, famous for hits like “Private Dancer,” opened up about the disturbing moments when she discovered that Ike had put out a contract on her life.

After enduring years of physical, verbal, and mental abuse from Ike, Tina finally found the courage to divorce him in 1978. However, her liberation didn’t come without consequences. Ike, consumed by anger after Tina refused to collaborate with him on music projects following their separation, retaliated in the only way he knew how—through violence.

Tina recounted nights filled with fear as they heard gunshots outside their home. Her late manager Rhonda Graam’s car was targeted by unidentified individuals connected to Ike, and bullets were even fired into their house. The situation was terrifying, and the threats against Tina’s life became alarmingly real.

Disturbingly, Tina discovered that Ike had attempted to hire a hitman to eliminate her. The news reached her through a reliable source, leaving her no choice but to take her safety into her own hands. She made the decision to arm herself and carry a gun, determined to protect herself from any potential harm.

Amidst the chaos, Tina also revealed the complexities of her relationship with Rhonda, who she had hired to assist in revitalizing her career after divorcing Ike. Despite Rhonda’s affair with Ike, Tina found it in her heart to forgive her. They were both victims of Ike’s manipulative tactics, bound together by their shared experiences of abuse. Their bond remained unbreakable, even in the face of Ike’s attempts to sow division.

When it came to the divorce proceedings, Tina had a single request for the judge. Rather than seeking material possessions or financial gain, she only sought to retain her stage name, “Tina Turner.” This name had been trademarked by Ike during their performing years, but Tina saw it as an essential part of her identity and artistic expression. Her request was granted, allowing her to continue her musical journey under her beloved stage name.

Tina Turner’s memoir is a testament to her indomitable spirit of a survivor. Rest in power, Tina Turner, and thank you for showing us the power of perseverance.
