Tina is very candid about family, especially when she speaks about them publicly, online. Recently, she acknowledged her son-in-law, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s gregarious and charismatic persona after discovering that Moet Hennessy obtained 50% of his champagne brand, Armand de Brignac.
Moet Hennessy, the wine division of LVMH, invested 50% of Jay-Z’s Ace of Spades’ champagne company. It was quite an achievement for the veteran emcee, and he firmly believes LVMH would take his champagne brand to a higher level of taste and distribution.
“You are a badass brother, and I hope that you continue to pave the way for others like you have in the past!! And I have seen such extreme kindness and generosity so many times that people don’t even know anything about,” said Knowles. “You are a true man who has admitted publicly when you’ve made mistakes in a very brave and classy way! You have in -turn, influenced the Culture of Young Black Men. You are a badass brother. I love you so much!!”
Knowles-Lawson wrote the love letter to her son-in-law after recognizing his contributions to the culture. The rapper and entrepreneur made sure that more black and brown entertainment were performing during the Super Bowl, for starters. During Super Bowl entertainment, African- American entertainers sang the National Anthem, America the Beautiful, and performed live during half-time. H.E.R, Jazmine Sullivan, and The Weekend’s performances were polished and well-put-together.
Despite the backlash Jay-Z received after partnering with the football league, he still left a groundbreaking impact and achieved his goal. Knowles-Lawson spoke about his diligence and dedication when she said, “One thing I’ve noticed about JAY is that he doesn’t let what people say bully him into not doing the things that he knows are right,” she continued. “But after the last Super Bowl, I did not read one comment by one person that said that they were pleased that he didn’t listen to the noise and he kept it moving and that he was able to get three talented Black people to dominate this year’s Super Bowl.”
