Popular comedienne Tiffany Haddish finally responded to child molestation allegations via Instagram, saying, “I know people have a bunch of questions.”
Tiffany released a statement addressing the allegations via the social media platform on Sept. 5.
“I know people have a bunch of questions. I get it. I’m right there with you. Unfortunately, because there is an ongoing legal case, there’s very little that I can say right now,” she said in the Instagram post.
The 42-year-old added her thoughts about the 2014 sketch she was a part of, titled “Through A Pedophile’s Eyes.”
“Clearly, while this sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all – and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it. I really look forward to being able to share a lot more about this situation as soon as I can,” she wrote.
Tiffany has reportedly been wrapped up in controversy, as she and comedian Aries Spears were accused of sexual abuse. On Aug. 30, a 22-year-old woman identified as Jane Doe sued them in California’s Superior Court for Los Angeles County on behalf of herself and her younger brother–a minor identified as John Doe.
In the court documents, Jane alleged that the L.A. native “groomed” the plaintiffs, leaving them “traumatized for life.” She additionally claimed that Tiffany was a “longtime family friend” of her mother and that in 2013, the 42-year-old allegedly said she’d help Jane get on TV as well as be included in the teen’s film reel. It is there that, the now adult said, Tiffany allegedly instructed her on how to perform sexual acts after watching a man and woman in a video.
Jane also alleged that John was molested by Aries in 2014 after Tiffany told him he’d be taping a reel for Nickelodeon at Spears’ residence. There, the actress allegedly told Jane that she needed John alone and brought him to a room where Aries started “molesting” the then-seven-year-old boy on film. As such, the court documents claimed that Tiffany witnessed the alleged incident “and aided, abetted and watched Spears sexually molest a child.”
Tiffany’s lawyer said in a statement about Jane’s molestation allegations that the plaintiff’s mother “has been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years” and that the comedienne would not be shaken down.”
