THEE Successful Halle Bailey Receives Glamour’s Woman Of The Year Gen Z Game-Changer Award

Glamour magazine awarded The Little Mermaid (2023) star Halle Bailey a Glamour Woman of the Year Gen Z Game-Changer award on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

The 17th Glamour Women of the Year Awards were held at One Marylebone, hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan. The purpose of the prestigious event is to honor dozens of women from a sprawl of fields — entertainment and sports to music and business.

Halle earned the Game-Changer of the Year award and got candid about her realities of being in the spotlight.

“It’s been an adjustment to live my life under the scrutiny of that spotlight,” she told the audience in her speech. “But, in the age of social media, in some way, we all live under that same scrutiny. From our bodies to what we wear to who we love and the things we care about — It’s all open to scrutiny.”

The 23-year-old offered advice about what to do with social media scrutiny: “Turn it off when you need to find inner peace. But also, live your life for you. Don’t waste time living it for social media. Everyone has an opinion, but the only opinion that matters is your own. You already know deep down what’s right for you.”

Halle brought her boyfriend and rapper DDG to share her joy and witness her victorious moment.

After the award ceremony, Halle took to Instagram to share her sentiments on receiving the Game-Changer award.

“What a beautiful night… I’m so grateful that I was honored with the Glamour Woman of the Year Gen Z Game-Changer award,” she wrote in the IG post’s caption. “This is such a special honor to me, and feels oh so amazing to be recognized for the work that I have put in all the years of my career.”

Halle continued, “Being a young woman in the spotlight is definitely not for the weak. But because of God, my loved ones and mentors, I am able to face the world every day with my head held high. I’m so grateful for all of the beautiful souls that continue to lift me up and guide me as I continue this blessing of a journey which is my life.”

Halle has faced much scrutiny in the media. Her most recent came when the world discovered 2023’s The Little Mermaid would include a Black mermaid. Many haters bashed the remake, claiming the filmmakers’ move was a part of the “woke” agenda. But haters were quickly shut down when the remake theatrically outperformed the original. Halle’s version accumulated over $568 million internationally and nationally, while the 1989 version made

$222.2 million.

Many came for the superstar after pregnancy rumors swirled the internet, which she hasn’t confirmed. People judged her for getting knocked up at one of the highest points of her career. However, her recent movie success and Glamour award prove she’s in a great position to do whatever she wants.
