For the first time in its 55-year history and the NFL, Raiders nation announced its first Black female president.
On Thursday (July 7), the former Oakland-based franchise introduced Sandra Douglass Morgan as its newest president via a statement on the team’s official website.
Las Vegas Raiders’ owner Mark Davis said, “I am thrilled that Sandra has agreed to join the Raiders family. Her experience, integrity and passion for this community will be invaluable to our organization. From the moment I met Sandra, I knew she was a force to be reckoned with. We are extremely lucky to have her at the helm.”
Morgan’s new role as the team’s first Black female president is only one of many firsts. The Las Vegas native also served as the first non-white person to serve on the Nevada Gaming Control as chair. The brilliant lawyer was also the City Attorney for North Las Vegas. She’s also worked in gaming and hospitality.
“It is the honor of a lifetime to join the Raiders at one of the most defining times in the team’s history,” Morgan said. “This team’s arrival in Las Vegas has created a new energy and opportunities we never dreamed possible. I look forward to taking this team’s integrity, spirit and commitment to excellence on the field into every facet of this organization.”
On social media, Raiders fans congratulated the new president on her position.
