Over 250 Sephora stores nationwide are selling the award-winning and black-owned skincare line Hyper Skin, the company’s founder Desiree Verdejo announced.

“We are so thrilled to have officially launched in 250 Sephora stores across the country,” Verdejo told Essence in a statement. “My goal with Hyper Skin has always been to meet our consumers where they are, so being a part of the Next Big Thing curation at Sephora will be a catalyst for becoming even more accessible to our community.”

Targeting Black and brown skin, the clinically-approved brand aims to help with skin issues women of color struggle with, like discoloration. Verdejo shares on the company’s website that she started the brand after diving into skincare but not finding products that correlate with her skin’s needs.

“I’ve had acne and dark spots since I was a teenager—I’m by far my toughest customer,” she said on the site. “After loving skincare but being left out of the club, I created the brand that we deserve. One that is rooted in realness—it’s really multicultural, centering real skin and realistic standards, and our hardworking formulas deliver real results. Hyper Skin is setting new standards for modern clinical skincare. The bar has been raised. The hype is real!”

According to the site, some of the critical ingredients are mandelic acid (exfoliates and reduces discoloration), licorice root (brightens and reduces discoloration), willow bark (exfoliates, reduces signs of aging and oil production), vitamin E (protects skin from harmful environmental factors), arbutin (sun protection and reduces future discoloration), mushroom extract, aloe and cucumber extract (reduce inflammation and helps with cell turnover).

Shoppers can find Hyper Skin products on the company’s and Sephora’s websites. Sephora’s “Next Big Thing” section highlights new makeup or skincare brands for people to try.
