The mother of reality TV stars Julie and Todd Chrisley’s granddaughter, Chloe, has been seeking custody after the couple was sentenced to prison.
Angela Johnson recently confirmed to TMZ that she’s been fighting to regain full custody of Chloe as Julie and Todd were sentenced to prison for fraud.
“I want her home. She deserves to be home,” Angela tearfully shared in a video. “I’ve held back for so long trying to patiently do it. And I don’t think it’s right for them to pretend that I don’t exist and say, ‘Oh, we just going to let Savannah get her ‘…That don’t make sense.”
She explained that she’s been working with a legal team to get Chloe back for years but admitted that it’s been challenging. The 10-year-old reportedly resided in Atlanta before the Chrisleys moved to Tennessee. On the other hand, her mom currently lives in South Carolina and shares that the move has made her custody battle difficult.
The concerned mother had her daughter with Julie and Todd’s son, Kyle, back in 2012. However, Kyle lost custody in 2016 due to his drug addiction, leaving Angela to share custody with Todd. That year, she was arrested for allegedly filing a false application for Medicaid assistance, and the elder reality TV star was granted sole custody.
The plot thickened as Julie and Todd have since been sentenced to 19 years in prison. The Chrisley Knows Best stars were reportedly sentenced after they were found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, tax fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
Julie was sentenced to seven years behind bars, while Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Their daughter Savannah Chrisley said she’d be getting custody of Chloe once her parents began serving their time, but Angela isn’t having it.
“I want her home. She deserves to be home… I’m her biological mom,” the child’s mother said.
Chloe first appeared in season one, episode four of Chrisley Knows Best.
