On Thursday, the internet was thoroughly entertained by two legendary divas – Stephanie Mills and Chaka Khan.
The two singers gathered in the name of sisterhood to perform their classic hits during last night’s Verzuz. Although there were technical difficulties during the two-hour event, Mills and Khan served up Black culture’s finest jams with a side of free game. The two were flawlessly and similarly dressed in Black outfits and matching burgundy hair.
Mills proved to everyone that her vocal game was strong as ever. And many assumed Khan was lit when she arrived. The two talked cash s**t, and Mills accompanied Khan during most of her memorable hits.
Black Twitter didn’t disappoint with providing the internet’s most entertaining tweets. Here are some of last night’s best reactions.
Mills even spit bars during “Something In The Way You Make Me Feel” to fans’ delight.
Khan showed fans she still had her sexy during “Tell Me Something Good.”
A memorable moment from the Verzuz that warmed everybody’s hearts happened when Mills pulled her son, Farad, on stage to dance during “Never Knew Love Like This Before.”
“This is my baby. Come dance with your mama,” she told the 20-year-old young man who has Down Syndrome, taking his hands to two-step.
Mills also brought the house down when she sang her classic “Home” from the hit Broadway musical The Wiz.
And the ladies ended the celebration with Khan’s 1978 hit, “I’m Every Woman.”
