Teyana Taylor revealed she had emergency surgery to remove lumps in her breast during the latest episode of her reality show We Got Love: Teyana & Iman.
At the beginning of the August 25 episode, viewers found out Taylor suffers from Chloestasis, a liver condition that makes her pregnancies high risk. According to the star, the condition can “lead to stillborns if you don’t deliver the baby early.”
Taylor claimed cholestasis caused both of her daughters to be delivered a month early.
The singer found lumps in her breasts and underwent surgery to remove tissue for testing. Taylor was visibly stressed by the ordeal because of a history of cancer in her bloodline.
“I just want this to be the last time I go through this,” Taylor said. “Cancer runs through my family, so it’s a scary thing both for me and Iman.”
Even though her health is potentially at risk, Taylor’s kids were on her mind during a post-op examination.
“When will I be able to hold my babies again?” she asked the doctor.
The “Rose in Harlem” artist was disappointed when the doctor told her she’d have to wait six weeks. Taylor had to stay away from her family for a week for recovery, and she struggled without seeing.
“It’s tough. I’m definitely overwhelmed because I miss my kids so much, I miss Iman so much,” she said in a confessional. “I think that’s probably the longest I’ve been away from them. My number one priority is to hurry up and get back home, but I know I need to take care of what I need to take care of as well.”
After the operation, the doctor told Taylor she had a lot of “dense” tissue, but she doesn’t have cancer. Reflecting on the news made her emotional.
“It’s been a rough year for me, but I feel like I, like, overcome it, and I did a great job of balancing everything, trying to be mommy, trying to be wife, trying to be an entrepreneur and everything else I have going on. I just want to enjoy this moment and try not to think of the negative,” she said.
