Singer and actress Teyana Taylor addressed the public after news of her filing for divorce surfaced. And she had many words.

The A Thousand and One actress took to Instagram Story, professing her disapproval of her divorce business getting leaked to the public when it was meant to be private.

“I mind my business, don’t bother nobody [and] y’all know I’ve never played about my children, family [and] our privacy,” she wrote. “I have not spoken on this private matter to any media outlets or blogs, etc. So, everyone claiming ‘Teyana said’ didn’t get any statements directly from ME.”

The 32-year-old clarified how the divorce announcement surfaced, writing, “These statements were taken from private court documents that were leaked to the public. It is very heartbreaking that someone would take out the time to make such a private matter public for the world to see. However, protecting my family is one thing I’ve ALWAYS done [and] for my children, I will continue to do so. Please, if y’all love y’all play nieces Junie [and] Rue like y’all have shown, please allow myself and my family some privacy to resolve this matter in peace. Love y’all.”

Sis2Sis reported that divorce documents showed that Teyana filed for divorce against her estranged husband and NBA player Iman Shumpert in January. She started the divorce process in 2021 and had her team file the papers in 2022, but changed her mind the next day.

In the filing, she detailed how Iman’s jealousy, narcissism and infidelity decimated their marriage.

She shared how she would dim her light to heal the 33-year-old’s bruised ego, but nothing seemed enough for him. The “Bare Wit Me” singer claimed despite the baller making more money than her during his basketball career, he hated the attention she got when they attended public events. 

While attending the events, photographers would ask Iman to step aside so they could capture his estranged wife.

Instead of cheering her on, Iman would continue to mentally and emotionally abuse Teyana until she had enough.
