In an interview conducted by DJ Vlad on September 27, Nia Riley’s father, Teddy Riley, sat down to open up about his daughter’s abusive relationship with rapper Soulja Boy. He admitted that he confronted Soulja Boy in the past that came to a physical altercation after Teddy demanded that the man apologizes to Nia.
“Well, let me say this: Soulja Boy knows who I am, and he knows I’m deep. He knows I’m deep,” The Harlem naive said to DJ Vlad. “We had an altercation, I was called a lot of names, and I got an apology. I’m looking for an apology for what he’s done to my daughter. I’m looking for that. As a man, I’m looking for that, and I think she deserves it. ‘Cause here’s someone who really stuck behind him, did [Love & Hip Hop Hollywood] for him, ’cause she thought this was gonna happen, and it’s gonna be them. I watched them live together, and I ain’t know all that was going on.” Teddy said genuinely. “It’s wrong, and I hope that he make it right, or you reap what you sow,” He continued. “I’m not doing any threats or anything, and I don’t do that. … But you gotta understand that you gotta be a man about it. Just be a man about it and keep it moving. Because … he’s a successful guy. Why? Why all of this, and why does it have to be violent?”
According to reports and interviews with Nia Riley, the abuse with Soulja Boy was extensive. She said that during their six-year relationship, his abuse called her to have a miscarriage, threatened her with a gun, and suffered both physical and verbal abuse at his hands. In an Instagram video from Hip Hop Boot Camp, Soulja Boy can be seen screaming at Nia, grabbing her, and standing over her.
