Tami Roman Calls Out ‘Real World’ Castmates For Using Racial Slurs On Show

While Tami Roman has never hesitated to speak her mind, the TV reality star recently found herself in a heated debate with fellow Real World Homecoming: Los Angeles castmates for using racial slurs on the show.

During an episode of the MTV series, Glen Naessens, who starred in the second season, shared when the derogatory term was said to his friend.

“The first time I’ve really felt what you’re passionate about was when I was with my friend John, and I went to a pizza place. And they called him a n***er.”

Roman was taken aback at his flagrant use of the word and immediately corrected him, saying, “You don’t say it, though.”

Naessens fired back, telling Roman, “That’s what he was called. They called him that, they called me that,” Revolt reported.

The conversation escalated when Naessens failed to understand Roman’s point and described what had already happened. He then accused Roman of not understanding the meaning of friendship. The 51-year-old responded, “They weren’t calling you that. You don’t understand what I’m saying to you that the word ‘n***er’ shouldn’t come out yo’ white a** mouth!”

Latina cast member Irene Berrera came to Roman’s defense as she snapped at Naessens, “You have no idea what it is to be a n***er, okay? Do not ever say that!”

However, she appeared to have escalated the situation, as she also used the racial slur. Roman quickly fired back at her, “You don’t say it either ’cause you Latina.”

After the incident was over, Roman vented about the experience. “I can’t go through my life trying to educate people on humanity,” she said. “Why do we have to educate you on something you should already know. And if you’re talking to a Black person about a plight that affects them, you might want to listen.”

“I’m annoyed,” she added. “It is not my job to educate you [on] how to understand equality, how to respect another human being. That is not my job.”

The episode went viral on social media as Twitter users expressed their thoughts and opinions about the situation.
