TAKE UP SPACE: Tems ATE With Her Oscars Gown Regardless If No One Behind Her Could See

Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems was the talk of Twitter during and after the Oscars for her grand, angelic-like white gown that just so happened to obstruct some audience members’ views.

Tems attended the 95th Academy Awards for the first time. She was nominated for Best Original Song for co-writing the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever song “Lift Me Up,” performed by Rihanna.

Despite the backlash, the artist did precisely what she needed to do in the dress, and fans agreed.

“Tems looked like an angel with a radiant aura in that dress around them crackas,” one person tweeted.

“I don’t care what people are saying about Tems’ dress. It’s the Oscars. Get over yourself; I like that we’re not left wondering, ‘Oh, Tems was there??’ But like, ‘Yeah, Tems was there!!! ‘And the dress did that,’” another person tweeted.

“Nobody: Tems at 2023 Oscars: I’m not blocking the view, I am the view #Oscars2023 #temsoscars.”

“Have yall noticed a lot of the discourse about the Oscars [has] all been about black women ??? Angela, Tems, Ciara .. idk it’s weird how yall always tear down black women.”

Others commented that it was ironic how people slammed Tems for her dress, yet Lady Gaga wore a view-obstructing dress to an award show and a dress made from raw meat.

In response to the backlash, Tems posted photos of the night in her gown with a caption that shows she couldn’t care less about the hater. “Oops,” she wrote.
