T-Pain & Usher End Former Autotune Dispute On-Stage

Years after Usher and T-Pain got into a disagreement over the Florida native’s signature use of autotune; the musicians decided to bury the hatchet in front of a live audience. According to Revolt, both were on-stage this past Sunday night at an event honoring Dave Chappelle’s upcoming documentary and took a moment to acknowledge their beef and hug one another in front of the audience.

In a recorded video uploaded to Instagram by 2Cool2Blog, the “Buy U A Drank” singer can be heard saying to Usher on-stage, “The energy that we put out in this world affects everybody else in this world, and I love you, bro. I’m telling you, we ain’t going through nothing, bruh. We ain’t going through a goddamn thing. It’s all love.”

Before embracing the singer, T-Pain added, “And at times where we’re divided the most, we need to be together the most. I love you, bro. I’m never not going to love you, trust me.”

As Sister 2 Sister previously reported, T-Pain got into a dispute with Usher over the use of autotune in his music, with the 37-year-old telling Netflix’s This Is Pop earlier this year that he was pulled to the side while on a flight to the 2013 BET Awards. After meeting Usher in the back, he

claimed that the “Confessions” singer straight up told him, “Man, you kind of f**ked up music,” adding, “I didn’t understand. Usher was my friend. He was like, ‘Nah, man. You really like f**ked up music for real singers.’”

T-Pain also opened up about feeling depressed following the exchange.

In August 2021, Usher publicly addressed the autotune drama, telling Billboard at the time, “I’m happy that T-Pain said something — I’m not sure if it was before or after our actual conversation after I heard what was said. It was very hurtful to know that he had experienced that kind of hardship in life. I wouldn’t wish that on any person. Private conversations for me have always been intended to uplift.” 

Usher added that he got the opportunity to speak with T-Pain in private and that they were “good.”
