Drew Taggart, the deejay for the electropop duo The Chainsmokers, found out the hard way that rapper T.I. did not appreciate an unsolicited kiss while they were onstage.
On August 17, the 32-year-old artist shared what happened on TikTok.
“T.I. just literally punched me in the face. We were in a vibe, and I was, like, I gave him a kiss on the cheek. It was totally my fault. He was like, ‘Don’t do that,’ and I was like, ‘OK.’ And he pushed me off, and I was like, ‘All right, my bad,’” Taggart recounted as Alex Pall, a fellow Chainsmokers bandmate, hysterically laughed in the background, chimed in that T.I. told him, “‘You need to get your boy!’”
Taggart concluded, “He punched me in the face, and I was like, ‘OK, I’m sorry.’ And he was like, ‘All right, cool. We’re good.’ It was the weirdest interaction ever.”
The deejay also admitted the 41-year-old “Bring Em Out” emcee was completely “in the right” for tagging him for the inappropriate action.
@thechainsmokersMy bad T.I. won’t happen again… unless?
T.I. also took to Instagram on Wednesday to comment on the strange interaction.
Visibly amused by the kiss and subsequent punch on IG, he wrote, “@thechainsmokers let’s sit down & chop it up on @expeditiouslyti
Huntsville, AL, this Friday & Saturday, Stand Up Live !!! 4shows Nashville TN this Sunday & Monday Zanies !!! 4shows Get ya tix while u can… shit selling out!!!”
“There’s really not much more to the story than you’ve already heard. I think the most important thing to take away is afterwards, we had a drink, we took a shot, you dig? You know what I’m saying? And we moved on. You know, everybody left the party, had a good time. Like I said, love The Chainsmokers — not to get no sugar, though.”

T.I. was sure to let The Chainsmokers and fans know that there was no love lost, and he still rocked with the band.
