According to The Source, Ebro Darden, the host of Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning, spoke about the annual concert returning after being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and highlighted its importance within hip-hop culture.
“Hot 97 Summer Jam is traditionally the official start of summer, but this year it’s the official return of hip-hop,” he said.
“We’re excited to present historic live performances for the culture and make iconic historic moments in hip-hop.”
“DJs provided the soundtrack to the world during the pandemic, and our entire team is amped to perform ‘live’ and feel the energy from the crowd. We are all ready for the return of Summer Jam!” Funkmaster Flex added.
Other performers of the night include A Boogie, DaBaby, Migos, Saweetie, Meek Mill, Bobby Shmurda, Moneybagg Yo, Rowdy Rebel, The Heavy Hitters Presents CJ and Friends featuring Farruko and El Alfa, DJ Megan Ryte and Friends, Saweetie, Rowdy Rebel and Bobby Shmurda.
In a separate festival lineup, Vibe reported that Coi Leray, Yung Bleu, Morray and others will perform on an outdoor stage.
This isn’t the first time Swizz is commemorating the legendary rapper.
As previously reported, Swizz also led an all-star tribute to the late rapper at the 2021 BET Awards with performances by Method Man, Busta Rhymes, and more.
COVID-19 safety protocols will remain a priority during the concert for the event’s production team, who is currently working closely with the venue to ensure federal guidelines are being upheld, VIBE reported.
