Styles P, a rapper and former member of The Lox, wants to clarify a few things for those who were taught the rules of snitching from an older generation. The way he sees it– regular citizens don’t adhere to the same code as those involved in crime, and therefore shouldn’t be labeled a snitch for giving information to police.
“Let me tell you something right now,” the New York emcee began in an Instagram video, rolling up a joint as he shared his thoughts.
“A lot of y’all are getting a lot of things confused, and your OGs f**ked you up, and you don’t have enough clarity on what’s going on. Let me explain something to you: A regular citizen who has not broken the code or does not live a life of crime or is not an everyday criminal is not a snitch.”

“You should expect them, people, to call the cops on you,” the “Good Times” rapper continued on Instagram. “Let me say that one more time. A regular person who does not live a life of crime…if they’re not an outlaw every day, if they don’t live by breaking the rules and a life of crime, they are not a f**king snitch.”
“I don’t know who your OG is. Like I said, I don’t give a f**k what set you in n***a. If a regular citizen who does not break the law calls the police on you stupid ass, and you didn’t expect that and you calling them a snitch, yous a f**king dummy.”

Though Styles P famously uttered the line “I’d rather not breathe than snitch” on a 1997 freestyle with Notorious BIG, it’s clear that he isn’t cool with it applying to everyone.
What do you think about Style P’s snitching policy? Should regular people not adhere to the same street rules?
