Stevie Wonder Bests Stevie Nicks in Twitter’s Battle of the Stevies

A brave, yet misguided soul sparked a debate on Twitter after he asked if music lovers prefer Stevie Wonder or Stevie Nicks.

The discussion occurred after Twitter user @4ever_days posed the question last Saturday.

“Hello everyone!  Stevie Nicks or Stevie Wonder?”

Both Stevies are great musicians with storied careers. Nicks has been performing since she was five and has been a member of Fleetwood Mac since 1975, according to Biography. She is also an accomplished solo artist who has inspired generations. Nicks’ song “Edge of Seventeen” was sampled for Destiny’s Child’s song “Bootylicious” and she appeared in the music video. She is also the first woman to be inducted

into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame twice, per The Guardian. She has won two Grammys and been nominated 15 times.

Nicks is a pretty big deal but Wonder’s stage name fits his life. Born blind in 1950, Wonder also started performing as a child. He taught himself how to play the piano, drums and harmonica before he turned 10. He signed to Motown and recorded his first project, a tribute album to Ray Charles, when he was 11. He scored

his first number one hit, “Fingertips Pt. 2” when he was 13 years old. Wonder has a discography full of bops including “Superstition,” “My Cherie Amour,” “Isn’t She Lovely” and the official birthday song for Black folks.

Not to mention, he has been nominated for 74 Grammys and won 25 statues. The winner is clear and Twitter agreed. Both Stevies eventually became trending topics.

Even Nicks’ stans are giving Wonder his flowers.

“Look here, I am a HUGE Stevie Nicks fan. I used to tell people as a kid I wanted to the Black Stevie Nicks. She’s an inspiration to me fashion-wise and music-wise. But WTFFFF lmao even she would say, Stevie Wonder,” one person argued.

Even Dionne Warwick, singer and Queen of Twitter, weighed in.

“Who is foolish enough to even ask this? All love to Stevie Nicks, but Stevie Wonder of course!!” Warwick tweeted.

Although we’re definitely team Wonder over here, much respect to Ms. Nicks.
