In a trailer for “Judge Steve Harvey,” the comedian notes that he isn’t a real judge and jokes that he is way too fly to wear a judge’s robe.
“See, I ain’t got a law degree, and I’m way to fly to wear a robe. But this is where common sense presides. In my house. The court is now in session.”

His new court reality television show stars the comedian as a “judge” who overhears the cases of disgruntled plaintiffs. The 64-year-old comedian listens to real people as they share conflicts in their lives. The veteran comedian listens to family feuds and fighting friends on his new show. He, then, gives his opinion on the situation and makes a ruling at the end.
“Most judges are interested in the law,” said Harvey. “These are the facts, and thatâs it. Iâm going to dig up the story behind why people came to court versus what theyâre in court for. I lean on decades of experience dealing with all types of situations and people, and I rely on my street savvy, common sense and humor to get it done.â
Judge Steve Harvey premiered on Jan. 4 on ABC.
