Sources Say Wendy Williams Might Quit Talk Show: ‘She’s Over It’

The future of The Wendy Williams Show is uncertain after the season premiere was postponed due to the host’s recent health struggles.

According to a statement released on Thursday, the show was supposed to return on October 4 but plans changed.

“Wendy will not be returning with new shows on October 4,” the announcement read. “She has been and continues to be under a doctor’s care and is still not ready to return to work. We plan to return with new shows on October 18.”

The road to the season premiere of The Wendy Williams Show has been rocky since Williams canceled promotional events due to “ongoing health issues.”

The season was initially scheduled to debut on September 20, but the date was switched to October 4 after Williams tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19. After the diagnosis, Williams was hospitalized for psychiatric issues related to an alleged drinking problem, as Sis2Sis previously reported.

The show’s latest statement claimed the 57-year-old has recovered from the virus.

“Her breakthrough covid case is no longer an issue, and she has tested negative, but she is still dealing with some ongoing medical issues,” the message said.

A source told The Sun Williams might delay her return to the purple chair.

“Wendy is in bad shape, and while the plan now is to return October 18, she very well could call in sick the night before,” the source said.

The person believes quitting is a possibility for Williams.

“The show is set to air through the 2021-22 season. There is no decision beyond that, but she could very well walk away. She’s over it.”

Another person pointed out Williams has a habit of announcing new seasons years in advance. However, she hasn’t said anything about the show’s future past 2022.

“Normally, by now, they would have announced the renewal long ago. But there is still no word yet beyond 2022,” the insider said. “It was two years ago- in 2019- when they announced that Wendy was renewed for this season, and here we are about to be at the start of it, and yet there is no announcement on the show’s future beyond this season.”

This doesn’t look good.
