While many celebrities have been affected by cancel culture, Snoop Dogg said he isn’t afraid of being canceled.
During a recent clubhouse chat with comedic star Druski, the “Gin and Juice” rapper opened up about being canceled.
“I wish a motherf**ker would try to cancel me,” he said.
But, the process only works “if you believe it when they tryna cancel you,” he added.
The 50-year-old also mentioned the recent controversy regarding DaBaby and
Dave Chappelle’s and their comments targeting the LGBTQ community.“Cause you see DaBaby, you see Dave Chappelle. You see certain motherf**kers, like, ‘if you don’t get out of here with that shit.’ Gimme a week, n***a, I’ll be back up, you know what I’m saying? You gotta believe it. You gotta know that your base is your base. You can’t — the cancel community is not bigger than my fan base. I beg to differ. Let’s match up n***a… Cancel community meet-up. Line up. Cancel community. I need you n***as to line up,” Snoop said.
The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” artist faced backlash for his comments about Gayle King after she mentioned the late Kobe Bryant’s rape allegations after reporting his death. He said King was a “dog-head b***h” and advised her to look out “before we come get you” in an Instagram post from February 2020, REVOLT reported.
Snoop’s remarks were met with excessive criticism from celebrities and political figures, including New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, who tweeted, “For those of you criticizing Gayle King, go watch her full interview. For many of you, check your misogyny. For those threatening her and inciting violence, stop it immediately. This is unacceptable. We must do better.”
The Long Beach, California native, apologized for his comments aimed at King and said he “overreacted.”
“Should have handled it way different from that,” the musician added. “I was raised way better than that. So, I would like to apologize to you publicly for the language that I used and calling you out of your name and just being disrespectful.”
